Day 10 Makonzi
Today we got a lie-in which was much needed. For our last day we went to St. Mary Bourne Primary School’s link Makonzi. When we got there we were greeted by a gaggle of children all pleased to see us. First we went to see their piggery and had short tour of the school. We then spilt off into small groups and went to talk to a class each about St. Mary Bourne. After that we taught them some games and songs (e.g. Duck, Duck. Goose and Head, shoulders, knees and toes) and they taught us some (which we thought were quite vicious). The next activity was painting blackboards which they all liked to watch. After that we did face-painting, very hectic but good fun. Lunch was then served in one of the classrooms (much of the same rice and pasta), all of us were wishing it was burgers. The children then sang for us and the headmaster gave a short speech of thanks presenting us with some gifts of vegetables. Finally we gave a balloon to each child; however the older kids soon took them from the younger ones. The journey wasn’t very lively as most people slept. We stopped off in the town to look around some shops and buy a bag of Ugandan popcorn. It was them time to take our last trip on Roy (the bus) back to the hotel. Tonight for supper its pizza, so we’re all looking forward to that.
