The next concert by Southern Voices consists of music from the Spanish Renaissance including the Lamentations and Versa est in luctum by Alonso Lobo (1555 – 1617), Missa ‘Mille Regretz’ by Morales (1500 – 1553) and the chanson ‘Mille Regretz’ by Josquin des Prez (1455 – 1521).
The magnificent polyphonic Renaissance music suits Southern Voices particularly well and should sound amazing in the Chapel of St Cross (which itself was visited by Philip of Spain in the 16th century).
The concert takes place at 7.30pm on 17 November at St Cross Church in Winchester. Tickets are £17.50 (with concessions at £14.50 and bargain seats for kids). Tickets are available from the Winchester Cathedral Box Office (or me if you get in quick!).
