We had a quick mini-break to Cornwall to celebrate our twentieth wedding anniversary (no children in attendance). We stayed in another Landmark, this time Whiteford Temple based near Callington, opposite the village of Stoke Climsland (how did it get that name?!). The property was excellent with amazing views, but very (very) cold – a natural consequence of the excellent clear days we had in December. We had visits out to Lewtrenchard Manor (brilliant lunch if you are passing) and the wonderful Buckland Abbey (Elizabethan church conversion on steroids). Another peculiar highlight was sniffing the air in Callington – perfect pastry smells coming from the Ginsters’ factory (and a reminder of another age, stopping for pasties on route to Cornwall 40 years ago).
